    Is 'Normal' Normal?

In this series, we unpack the word, ‘normal’. Is it possible we have been sold a lemon?

Every now and again we might meet someone who just reflects a whole lot of decency, or true care and love for people. Isn’t it amazing to meet someone like that?

The thing is, it should not be amazing to meet someone like that, because the same truth, and the same potential to live in that manner, exists in all of us – without exception. So the question we could be asking ourselves is:

Why have we not made that normal, when we all know that it is the truth of who we are?

We are all definitely touched when we meet someone who has made true love, decency and care the basis of their life. Indeed, there are not that many of them, really, compared with the way we as a whole society function, but they certainly are there. You no doubt have seen them, somewhere on your travels through life.

In a world flooded with corruption, greed, lies, abuse in all its forms, slander and a willingness to take each other down, what we have settled for as ‘normal’ is actually not a good reflection on us as a society at all. In fact, if we are very honest about it, it is very poor indeed – poor compared with what it could be, if we looked at life from the decency, love and care we are all capable of… Are we willing to be honest enough to admit that?

When most of us are experiencing at least one or more of the following – as our ‘normal’ day to day life, those who do not experience these things are very rare indeed. Can you imagine living without:

    • Stress
    • Anxiety
    • Exhaustion
    • Dependency, on anything
    • Lack of confidence
    • Self doubt?

What would that actually feel like?

The truth is, there is much, much more to us than we tend to accept as our ‘normal’. To those who have the commitment and care to open their hearts and simply live the truth of love and care for all, we say thank you. There are people who have made that choice, all over the world. It really just boils down to a simple choice – to unleash the fullness of you in all that you do.

Next week, in the continuation of this series, we look at what ‘normal’ has come to mean in our society.
