FAQS

Here are some frequently asked questions which we hope will help you. If you have some other questions please contact one of our course advisors on 1300 880 885 for further assistance or send us an email - evolve@evolvecollege.com.

1. What kinds of support will I receive?

All of our students have both educational and administrative support available to them.

If you have educational or curriculum questions, our Student Services Team, led by a qualified Trainer and Assessor, will see that your questions are answered by phone or email within 3 business days.

All students have access to the online Evolve Hub, which contains links to course information, industry updates, tips and tools and other relevant resources. Each subject is clearly laid out in the Evolve Hub allowing you to progress as quickly as you feel comfortable.

Administrative support is also available throughout your course, with a turnaround time of 3 business days.

You can also download the comprehensive Student Handbook that walks you through your course and important information you should be aware of. See our Policies and Downloads page in the About section of our website.

If you would like a Qualification Fact Sheet outlining important information about your qualification, please contact us to request one and we will send it to you.

2. Do I have to give up my day job to do the course?

Not at all! We have available a wide range of options so that you don’t need to give up your day job and you can still complete your studies. You can choose weekend or weekday formats depending on your location. The more popular timetable options are displayed on the website. However, contact administration to find out if there are other timetable options currently available.

3. I haven't studied for years, are there any exams?

Don't worry! We will support you all the way through your studies, both educationally (through access to education/curriculum support) as well as administratively (with any questions you may have about your course, study location, Trainer/Assessor, arrangements for doing clinical hours, what happens on graduation, and more). Evolve College does not use exams. You participate in relevant knowledge checks, practical evaluations and home study learning experiences throughout your course.
Each step builds incrementally on the last, with our Clinic Program building your confidence and prowess as a therapist in different formats, to help prepare you to feel and be job-ready when you graduate. We give you everything you need to know, so you learn only the material that you need and you are supported as you do so. If you need any additional support at any time, just ask us. We are here to support you all the way through, in whatever way you need.

4. What if I have special needs?

If you have special needs, then we will do all we can to support you in relation to these. For instance, you may have difficulties with language, or you may have a physical disability or condition that makes learning or assessment in a particular way difficult. We can adjust the way you learn and are assessed to take account of your individual circumstances. This is called reasonable adjustment, and may be done at any time, as long as the rigour of the actual assessment is not compromised. We request that you let us know about any special needs you may have so that we can make sure we do everything we can to support you in your learning and development.

5. What if I don't understand an assessment question or any part of my learning materials?

No problem. If you have any questions at any time, please just contact us. We are here to support you throughout your studies. Please contact our Administration Team on 1300 880 885 (Mon-Fri, 9:00am-5:00pm AEDT/ADST). Our Administration Team can refer you to a specialist in relation to specific curriculum questions, or a Trainer/Assessor as needed.

Yes. Evolve College’s HLT42021 Certificate IV in Massage Therapy and HLT52021 Diploma of Remedial Massage courses each meet the mandatory clinical hour requirements set under the HLT Training Package, which are:

·      HLT42021 Certificate IV in Massage Therapy: 80 hours client consultation work (CCW or clinical hours), 60 of which must be supervised

·      HLT52021 Diploma of Remedial Massage: 200 hours client consultation work (CCW or clinical hours), 150 of which must be supervised

11. Am I covered by Evolve College’s insurance as a student?

Yes. Evolve College’s insurance policy covers you in your work as a student, as long as it fits within your educational program as set by Evolve College. When performing clinical hours, e.g. in Community Clinic or logbook hours, you need to notify us of venues at which you are performing massage (if outside your home clinic) in order for them to be covered. Contact us on 1300 880 885 (Mon-Fri, 9:00am-5:00pm AEST/ADST) or email us at evolve@evolvecollege.com.

12. What is a USI and do I have to have one?

Yes. The Government requires all students studying in Australia to have a Unique Student Identifier (USI). This is a number unique to you, which has details of all of your study associated with it. You can obtain details of any qualification or unit of competency you have studied at any point, when linked to your USI.

Under legislation, RTOs must not issue a qualification or statement of attainment to any student unless that student has a verified USI. To obtain a USI is a very quick and easy process and can be done online, including from your smart phone/iPhone. Simply go to https://www.usi.gov.au/students/create-your-usi and follow the prompts. You will require a Driver’s Licence or other ID. The process takes less than 5 minutes. Send us details of your USI so we can record it for you on our system and verify it for you. Note you will not be able to receive your qualification without this.

13. What does private health fund approved provider mean? Will I be eligible?

A private health fund approved provider is a therapist who has been approved by the private health fund to offer rebates to members of that health fund who see the therapist for approved sessions. This is available to Remedial Massage Therapists only (i.e. graduates of the HLT52021 Diploma of Remedial Massage, and not graduates of the HLT42021 Certificate IV in Massage Therapy or its predecessor qualifications). It is also available to graduates of the superseded qualification, HLT'52015 Diploma of Remedial Massage.

The largest private health fund in Australia is Medibank Private, which introduced educational criteria for Remedial Massage Therapists in 2014. In order to qualify for a provider number with Medibank Private, a graduate of the HLT52021 Diploma of Remedial Massage is required to have studied on-campus, with all clinical training to be undertaken on-campus over a minimum of 12 months. Evolve College’s Diploma program meets these requirements.

14. How do I become a private health fund approved provider?

Once you complete your studies, we perform all the necessary checks of your assessments, duration of study, mode of study and the like and if you have met all requirements of Evolve College and the HLT52021 Diploma of Remedial Massage, we will issue a letter confirming that you satisfy the requirements of Medibank Private. This letter is provided to your professional massage association, who processes your application for a provider number.

Note that requirements for applications for provider numbers may vary from association to association.

15. Which professional associations should I join and when should I join?

It is your choice as to which professional association you join. For the current professional massage associations Evolve College works with, please contact our team on 1300 880 885 or evolve@evolvecollege.com.

Your association may offer student membership, which is available to you while you are studying your massage course. You can then apply to upgrade to a practitioner member on graduation. Contact your association for more information.

16. Can students from overseas study with Evolve College?

People from overseas with a valid existing visa can study with Evolve College as long as their visa permits study. If you are on a visa, you are required to tell us, and to provide us with a copy of your visa. You are also required to tell us of any changes to any conditions on your visa, or your visa itself.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Evolve College does not deliver courses to anyone on a student visa as Evolve College is not registered with CRICOS (Commonwealth Register of Institutions & Courses for Overseas Students). If you are on a student visa, you should visit the CRICOS website for more information on your eligibility to study in Australia and which institutions you may study with.
