FAQ'S - Correspondence Study
Study a rewarding new career from the convenience of your own home… with the flexibility to enrol and get started at any time!
1. Is the qualification exactly the same as studying on-campus?
When you study an Evolve College HLT42015 Certificate IV in Massage Therapy or HLT52015 Diploma of Remedial Massage, you will graduate with exactly the same qualification as a student who studied on-campus.
2. Will I be eligible for a Medibank Private approved provider number if I study by correspondence?
No. Medibank Private, and other private health insurers, require on-campus study to be eligible to become an approved provider and offer rebates to clients of Remedial Massage. Note that provider numbers are relevant to students of the HLT52015 Diploma of Remedial Massage only. For more details on the requirements in this area, see our general Frequently Asked Questions page.
3. Do I have to study on-campus, given Medibank requires on-campus study?
No. It is up to you as to how you study (on-campus or correspondence). Evolve College recognises that for some students, the ability to study by correspondence is very, very important, and hence this is why we offer such a strong educational package to both on-campus and correspondence students. In our view, the same educational opportunities should be available to all, irrespective of where they are located or other circumstances.
The decision for you to make is what is most important to you, taking into account all of your circumstances as well as what you would like to do with your qualification on graduation. For some people, having a Medibank Private or other provider number is very important, e.g. because they plan to work in a chiropractic or physiotherapy (or other) clinic where the clinic requires all therapists to have a provider number. For others, it is not. Hence the decision is yours. Evolve College supports you either way. Our on-campus program is compliant with the Medibank Private educational criteria for Remedial Massage Therapists. Our correspondence program offers flexibility and the ability to study at home, with superb educational resources, for those to whom that is very important.
Read more about the factors you should take into account, on our private health insurance pages, which expose some myths about this area and perhaps offer a broader perspective. You can also visit our general FAQs page, which has further information. If you would like to speak with one of our course advisors, please do not hesitate to call us on 1300 880 885 (Mon-Fri, 9:00am-5:00pm, AEST/ADST) or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org. 4. As a correspondence student, how will I learn practical hands-on massage skills from home?
Every subject contains a comprehensive study pack to facilitate successful, independent, self-paced learning. Learning resources include detailed photographic PDF manuals, e-textbook, audio/video material and online resources. All correspondence students receive access to downloadable videos of each practical class, featuring our lead Trainer and Assessor, who takes you through every technique. This is an invaluable resource, and is much like having your very own Trainer with you, with the added bonus that you can replay parts or all of the videos as you choose to, and go away and practice in between. We are also here on hand to answer any questions you may have.
Evolve College takes very seriously the preparation of our students to be leading edge massage therapists. Students are very carefully developed in their skills, knowledge and confidence through our combined on-campus Clinic Program and our innovative Virtual Clinic.
