Correspondence Program

Correspondence Program

Self Paced Learning

Studying by correspondence enables you to study from home at your own pace as you are not governed by a fixed timetable. Evolve College Trainers and Admin staff are on hand to assist you with any questions you may have as you go through.

Home Study subjects requiring practical study involve you completing a range of practical assessments including clinical demonstrations, log book clinic hours, voluntary community hours and professional massage treatments. Evolve College will support you through these steps, which you can complete in your own time.

Clinical hours are required to ensure your correspondence study meets all government requirements. Clinical hours also greatly prepare you to be an excellent massage therapist upon graduation – we support our graduates to be job ready and confident and our course focuses on clinical practice.

We understand the importance of correspondence study to people who live remotely, have work commitments or other reasons to prefer to study by correspondence. We are very pleased to offer you a program that allows correspondence study and keeps to a minimum the face to face hours which we must require in order to ensure comprehensive fulfilment of all requirements.

Your clinical hours requirements are met through two programs. The first is an on-campus component, and the second is our Virtual Clinic. These are explained below.

On Campus Component

Your on-campus component is made up of the Massage Practice program and participation in Student Clinics. This consists of supervised practical sessions conveniently located at our on-campus locations nationally – in most capital cities and some regional locations. You can choose whichever location best suits you for these, and they can be spaced out throughout the year. As part of your course, you will attend classes to complete the following clinical/assessment modules:

HLT42015 Certificate IV in Massage Therapy:

Massage Therapy - Massage Practice 1 is undertaken over 1 x 2 day weekend (or weekday) class.

  • Massage Practice 1 (two days) is comprised of assessment and clinical practice

Clinical Practice 1 - Student Clinics are undertaken over 2 x 2 day weekend (or weekday) clinics.

  • Successful completion of Massage Practice 1 is followed by attendance at 2 x two day Student Clinics where students demonstrate practical skills, clinical reasoning and gain valuable professional experience in a public clinic environment

Attendance at all 3 weekends (or weekdays) is compulsory for on-campus and correspondence students.

HLT52015 Diploma of Remedial Massage:

Massage Therapy - Massage Practice 1 is undertaken over 1 x 2 day weekend (or weekday) class.

  •  Massage Practice 1 (two days) is comprised of assessment and clinical practice

Remedial Massage - Massage Practice 2 is undertaken over1 weekend (or weekday) class.

  • Massage Practice 2 (2 days) is comprised of days of assessment and clinical practice

Clinical Practice 2 - Student Clinics are undertaken over 5 x 2 day weekend (or weekday) clinics.

  • Successful completion of Massage Practice 2 is followed by attendance at 5 x 2 day Student Clinics where students demonstrate practical skills, clinical reasoning and gain valuable professional experience in a public clinic environment

Attendance at all 7 weekend or weekday class/clinics is compulsory for on-campus and correspondence students

Evolve Virtual Clinic

In addition to your class time, you will undertake supervised clinical performance which you perform from your chosen location, via our state of the art Virtual Clinic, which is live supervised by an Evolve College Trainer and Assessor. The Virtual Clinic is our innovative, leading technology platform that enables you to perform live supervised clinical hours. An on-campus option is also available.

Bear in mind that private health funds require on campus study in order to be able to offer rebates to clients who are members of the health funds. For some students, it is far more important to them that they are able to study by correspondence, than it is to have all private health fund provider numbers – this is entirely up to you, and we are here to support you. You are welcome to call us to talk this through, on 1300 880 885, or also visit the private health funds pages on our website, which set the requirements in context and give some very interesting feedback from our graduates on provider numbers and what it takes to be a successful therapist. See also our FAQs page.

As always, we welcome hearing from you and we are here to support you at all times. Our phones are open 9am to 5pm, every weekday AEST/ADST on 1300 880 885.

In your location, correspondence may be your only study option at present, however Evolve College does monitor student numbers in each region and responds to changes in numbers from time to time.  Evolve College endeavours to provide the Massage Practice program face to face in as many locations as possible, however this is based on the number of students studying in each region from time to time who are also ready to undertake the Massage Practice program. We review this regularly.
